Friend of peace
Derived from the Old English elements 'wine' meaning friend and 'frith' meaning peace. It was a common name in Anglo-Saxon England and is famously associated with Saint Boniface, whose birth name was Winfred. While it fell out of common use for centuries, it saw a minor revival in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
