Free man or meadow
Sharla is a mid-20th-century creation, likely formed as a blend of Sharon and Carla or as a variant of Charlotte. It carries the Germanic roots of Charles, meaning 'free man', while its phonetic similarity to Sharon connects it to the Hebrew word for 'plain' or 'meadow'.
