Flat plain or a diminutive of Sharon
Shari is primarily used as a diminutive of Sharon, which refers to the fertile coastal plain in Israel mentioned in the Bible. It gained independent popularity in the mid-20th century, often associated with a friendly and approachable image. In some contexts, it is also considered a variation of the French name Chérie, meaning 'darling'.
