Sun or lord
Derived from the Old Persian name Kūruš, it is most famously associated with Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Achaemenid Empire. While often interpreted as meaning 'sun', it may also be related to the Elamite word for 'care' or the Greek word for 'lord'.
