Star or dew of the sea
Ytzel is a modern variant of Itzel, which is believed to have roots in Mayan culture, possibly meaning 'Star of the Aurora' or 'Rainbow Lady.' It is also sometimes associated with the Spanish name Estela or the Latin Maris, meaning 'dew of the sea.'
