Derived from the Hebrew name Tirzah, it appears in the Old Testament as both a place name and a personal name. It signifies a sense of beauty, grace, or being well-pleasing. In the Bible, Tirzah was one of the five daughters of Zelophehad who successfully argued for their right to inherit land.
