Earth or ball of earth
The name is most commonly associated with the Latin word for earth or soil. It gained international recognition through the 19th-century French novelist Γmile Zola, though it has also been used independently in various African cultures with different meanings, such as 'quiet' or 'tranquil' in Zulu.
