Zazie is a French diminutive of Isabelle, which ultimately derives from the Hebrew name Elisheba. While its roots mean 'pledged to God', the name Zazie has taken on a life of its own in French culture, often associated with a spunky, energetic, and bohemian personality. It gained significant recognition through the mid-century French novel and subsequent film 'Zazie dans le Métro'.
