Friend; white shadow, white wave
Wendi is a modern spelling variant of Wendy. The name was popularized by J.M. Barrie for the character Wendy Darling in 'Peter Pan', based on the nickname 'faddery' (friend) used by a young girl. It is also considered a diminutive of Gwendolen, meaning 'white ring' or 'white wave'.
