Venesa is a rare variant of Vanessa, a name invented by author Jonathan Swift for his friend Esther Vanhomrigh. It is also occasionally associated with the Roman goddess Venus, representing love and beauty. In modern usage, it is most commonly linked to the genus of butterflies.
