Of the sea; bitter; star of the sea
Mareesa is a rare variant of Marisa or Marissa, which itself is a combination of Maria and Louisa or a Latinate elaboration of Maris. It is often associated with the Latin phrase 'stella maris', meaning 'star of the sea'. Its usage in the United States is infrequent, offering a unique twist on more common 1990s favorites.
