Butterfly; God is gracious
Vannia is a name with dual potential origins. It is often considered a Spanish or Latin American diminutive of Vanessa, which was coined by Jonathan Swift using the Greek word for butterfly. Alternatively, it is sometimes used as a variant of Vanya, a Slavic diminutive of Ivan, meaning 'God is gracious'.
