Tyge is a Scandinavian variant of the Old Norse name Tyki, which is a diminutive of names starting with the element Thyr. It is also historically linked to the Greek name Tycho, meaning 'hitting the mark' or 'luck'. In Denmark, it is famously associated with the astronomer Tycho Brahe, whose birth name was Tyge.
