In Sanskrit, Sruthi (or Shruti) refers to the most authoritative body of religious texts in Hinduism. It literally translates to 'hearing' and represents the eternal truths heard by ancient sages. It is also a fundamental term in Indian classical music, referring to the smallest interval of pitch that the human ear can detect.
