Saraya is often considered a modern variation of the Hebrew name Sarah, meaning princess. It may also be interpreted as a variant of the name Seraiah, which appears in the Bible and means 'Yahweh has prevailed'. In some contexts, it is associated with the Sanskrit word for 'river'.
