Roxie is a diminutive of Roxanne, which originates from the Greek name Roxane, itself derived from the Old Persian name Roshanak. It carries the radiant meaning of dawn or light. While it was highly popular in the early 20th century, it now carries a spunky, retro-cool appeal.
