Ronya is a diminutive form of Roni or Ronli, derived from Hebrew roots meaning joy or song. It is also famously associated with the Swedish children's book 'Ronia, the Robber's Daughter' by Astrid Lindgren, where the author invented the name 'Ronja' based on a central portion of a Swedish lake name.
