Seal; little seal
Rhonin is a variant of the Irish name Ronan, which is derived from the word 'rón' meaning seal, combined with a diminutive suffix. In Irish folklore, seals were often seen as magical creatures or 'selkies' that could take human form. While the 'Rhonin' spelling is rare, it has gained some recognition through modern fantasy literature.
About 16 boys were named Rhonin in 2025.
