Oarsman or rower
Derived from the Latin name Remigius, it originally referred to a rower or oarsman. The name gained prominence in Europe due to Saint Remigius, the 5th-century Bishop of Reims who baptized Clovis I, King of the Franks. It remains a rare but distinguished choice in Spanish and Italian speaking cultures.
About 5 boys were named Remigio in 2025.
