Born of Ra; son of the sun god
Derived from the Ancient Egyptian name Ra-mes-su, it combines the name of the sun god Ra with the verb 'mes' meaning to be born. It was the name of eleven pharaohs of the New Kingdom, most notably Ramesses II.
