Victory of the people
A French feminine form of Nicholas, derived from the Greek name Nikolaos. It combines the elements 'nike' (victory) and 'laos' (people). While the 'Nicole' spelling is more common, this variant gained significant popularity in the United States during the 1970s and 1980s.
