Moishy is a common Yiddish diminutive of the Hebrew name Moshe (Moses). It refers to the biblical account of Moses being rescued from the Nile River by Pharaoh's daughter. While traditionally used as a nickname within Jewish communities, it is occasionally used as a legal given name.
