Bright sea
A medieval variant of Muriel, derived from the Irish name Muirgel. It combines the Gaelic elements 'muir' (sea) and 'gel' (bright or shining). It was popular in the Middle Ages and saw a small revival in the early 20th century.

Meriel isn't in the latest US Top 1000. It last peaked at #7,490 in 2002.
