Maryama is a variant of Maryam, the Arabic and Aramaic form of Mary. While its exact etymology is debated, it is often associated with the Hebrew 'Miriam,' meaning 'bitter' or 'rebellious,' or the Egyptian 'mry,' meaning 'beloved.'
