Maleeya is a modern phonetic spelling variant of Malia. Malia is the Hawaiian form of Mary, which has roots in the Hebrew name Miryam, traditionally meaning 'bitter' or 'beloved'. In a Hawaiian context, it is also associated with the word for 'calm' or 'peaceful'.
