Pearl or bitter
Maezie is a modern phonetic spelling variant of Maisie, which originated as a Scottish diminutive of Margaret. Depending on the root, it carries the meaning of 'pearl' from the Greek 'margarites' or 'bitter' from the Hebrew 'maryam'.
