Gray-haired
Loyd is a variant of the Welsh name Lloyd, which originated as a descriptive nickname for someone with gray hair. In Welsh culture, the color gray was often associated with wisdom and maturity. While the double-L spelling is more traditional, this single-L version gained moderate popularity in the United States during the early 20th century.
