Lory is a diminutive form of Lora or Laura, derived from the Latin word 'laurus'. In ancient Rome, the laurel tree was a symbol of honor, victory, and wisdom, often used to crown poets and heroes. While it emerged as a standalone name in the mid-20th century, it remains a rare alternative to the more common Lori or Laura.
