Beloved man or lover of the moon
Leamon is an Americanized variant of the English name Leman, which derives from the Middle English word 'lemman' meaning sweetheart or beloved. It is also occasionally associated with a folk etymology combining the French 'le' with the English 'moon'. Though rare today, it saw moderate use in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
