Laurel tree or bay tree
A modern elaboration of the name Laurel or Laura, combining the Latin root for the laurel tree with the popular French-inspired 'elle' suffix. Historically, the laurel was a symbol of victory and honor in ancient Greece and Rome, used to crown scholars and conquerors.
