The bay laurel or honor
Laureen is a mid-20th-century elaboration of Laura, which is derived from the Latin word 'laurus'. In ancient Rome, the laurel tree was a symbol of victory, honor, and poetic achievement. While it saw a peak in popularity during the 1950s and 60s, it remains a rare and distinctive alternative to the more common Lauren or Laura.
