Leafy grove or canopy of boughs
Derived from the French surname 'La Ramée', which originally referred to someone living in a leafy grove or a person who lived in a house constructed of branches. In an American context, it is strongly associated with the city in Wyoming and the Laramie River, named for French-Canadian trapper Jacques La Ramee.
