Kollin is primarily a modern spelling variant of the Gaelic name Colin, which originated as a diminutive of 'cu' meaning 'whelp' or 'young dog'. It is also frequently used as a diminutive of Nicholas, a Greek name meaning 'victory of the people'. The 'K' spelling gives it a contemporary, Americanized feel compared to the traditional 'C' version.
