Chubby; cinnamon; pure
Kessie is primarily considered a diminutive of the Ashanti name Akosua, meaning 'born on Sunday', or a variant of the Hebrew name Cassia, referring to the cinnamon-like spice. In some West African traditions, it is also used to describe a 'chubby' or healthy baby. It gained some visibility in the West as a playful, rare alternative to names like Cassie or Jessie.
Fewer than 5 girls were named Kessie in 2025.
