The strand or the thread
In the Hawaiian language, Keawe literally translates to 'the strand' or 'the thread.' Historically, it is a name of great prestige, belonging to an ancient king of Hawaii, Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku, from whom many noble lineages descend.
About 10 boys were named Keawe in 2025.
