Derived from the Greek name Kassandra, it is most famous as the name of the Trojan prophetess in Greek mythology. The name is composed of the elements 'kekasmai', meaning to excel or shine, and 'aner', meaning man. In mythology, she was cursed to provide true prophecies that no one would believe.
