Jovaun is a modern phonetic variant of Jovan, which is the Slavic form of John. It ultimately derives from the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning 'Yahweh is gracious'. In some contexts, it is also associated with Jove, the Roman king of gods, though the biblical connection is more direct.
