Gracious
Johanan is a Hebrew name derived from Yochanan, meaning 'God has been gracious.' It is the ancient root from which the ubiquitous names John and Jonathan eventually evolved. In the Old Testament, it is borne by several minor characters, including a high priest and a military captain.
