Jet black gemstone or to throw forth
Jetta has two primary etymological paths. It is often used as a diminutive of Henrietta, meaning 'estate ruler,' or derived from the English word for the intense black gemstone 'jet.' In some contexts, it is also associated with the Latin 'jactare,' meaning to throw or cast forth.
