Jerrod is a variant of Jared, a Hebrew name meaning 'descent'. In the Old Testament, Jared was a patriarch and the father of Enoch, said to have lived for 962 years. The 'Jerrod' spelling gained some popularity in the United States during the late 20th century as a phonetic variation.
