Janelli is a modern elaboration of Jane or Janelle, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Yochanan. It combines the traditional roots of 'God is gracious' with a rhythmic, Italianate suffix that gives it a contemporary flair. While rare, it follows the trend of adding melodic endings to established classics.
