Daughter of Jahnu; the river Ganges
In Hindu mythology, Jahnavi is an epithet of the river Ganges, personified as a goddess. The name refers to the legend where the sage Jahnu drank the river to stop it from flooding his sacrificial site, later releasing it through his ear, making the river his daughter.
