Giant or patriarch
In Armenian mythology, Hayk is the legendary patriarch and founder of the Armenian nation. He is traditionally described as a giant and a skilled archer who defeated the Babylonian king Bel to secure freedom for his people. The name is deeply tied to Armenian identity, as the country's endonym, Hayastan, is derived from his name.
