Grace of God or favor of God
Derived from the Hebrew elements 'chanan', meaning grace or favor, and 'el', referring to God. In the Old Testament, Hanniel appears as a leader of the tribe of Asher and also as a prince of the tribe of Manasseh. It shares the same linguistic roots as the more common names Hannah and John.
