Grace; favor
Hannie is primarily a diminutive of Hannah or Johanna. It shares the Hebrew root 'Channah', which refers to the concept of divine grace or favor. While rare as a standalone name in the United States, it has historical use as a familiar nickname in Dutch and English-speaking communities.
