River of the wolf or valley of the wolves
Derived from the Arabic 'wadi' meaning valley or river, and the Latin 'lupus' meaning wolf. It is most famously associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe, the title of the Virgin Mary as the patron saint of Mexico.
