Gardens flower; named for botanist Alexander Garden
Gardenia is a botanical name derived from the tropical flowering shrub. The plant itself was named by Carolus Linnaeus in honor of the Scottish-born naturalist and physician Dr. Alexander Garden, who lived in South Carolina.
