Myrrh; from the ancient city of Smyrna
Esmirna is the Spanish form of Smyrna, an ancient Greek city located on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. The name is derived from the Greek word for myrrh, a precious resin used in ancient times for incense and medicine. It carries historical and biblical significance as one of the seven churches of Asia mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
