Horse goddess
Derived from the Gaulish 'Epos' meaning horse, Eponine was originally the name of a Gallo-Roman fertility goddess who protected horses and their riders. In modern times, it is most famously associated with the tragic and heroic character in Victor Hugo's Les Misérables.
