Enna has multiple etymological paths, most notably as a Germanic name derived from 'eg' meaning 'edge' or 'point of a sword'. In Irish contexts, it is a feminine variant of Éanna, which is associated with a word for 'bird'. It is also occasionally used as a diminutive for names ending in -enna.
